my love for fitz & the tantrums is no secret. i am an avid documenter of their shows, and a dedicated word-spreader about the greatness of their music. i can’t remember a time when i’ve been such a “fan girl/photographer” about a new band. something about their universally appealing indie soul pop makes them easy to like, no matter what kind of music you’re into. they opened for the heavy (photo above) on thursday night at the hammer, and it was another dance-driven night to remember. slide show at buzz bands. it was another magical night at the hammer museum for the “also i like to rock” series sponsored by KCRW. the happy hollows and admiral radley kept the gloomy night skies warm and bright. two more weeks of great shows are coming up, with fitz & the tantrums opening for the heavy next week. be there by 8 pm to catch the magic. throughout the month of july, the 6th annual “also i like to rock” series takes over the hammer museum on thursday nights. featuring emerging bands, amazing artwork, and a gorgeous courtyard setting, the events are FREE and refreshingly unique. kitten and saint motel killed it last week, launching what is sure to be a memorable month of new music. more info, photo slide show and mixtape download over on buzzbands.
